Product Description

Campingandkayaking

                               Campingandkayaking

American Owned

CampingandKayaking, Products designed by kayakers for kayakers

We are an Alabama based small business that started because we needed the gear that was not available. Years ago, before kayaking became popular good gear was hard to find so we made what we needed.

We were kayakers by heart but had real jobs. Our backgrounds were in industries that allowed us to develop the gear we needed. It seems a design engineer and a knowledgeable sewing and manufacturing person that loved kayaking were a great pair to start this little company. We have shipped hundreds of thousands of gear leashes all over the world. We have been copied by so many importers but we have never been duplicated. They really just don't understand the needs of the users.

We design and manufacture all of our Gear Leashes in Alabama, USA. We are CampingandKayaking, We know what works.

3 Pack Black Paddle Leash

3 Pack Black Paddle Leash Now with Cinch Lock, Grips like a Python.

Our unique little invention allows for a fail proof attachment. The leash "Cow Hitches" on the gear but has great advantage over other leashes. When you put it on and pull it tight, it applies a contentious pressure on the gear squeezing like a python holding it in place.

Don't trust your gear to a hook and loop attachment. It may look pretty, but the strength just isn't there.

Carabiner

Carabiner

Large Anodized Aluminum Carabiner with a stainless steel gate. Salt water can't touch this! Designed especially for our gear leashes with a large opening for versatile attachment points. Hardware Imported.

2 Pack Paddle/Gear Leash
4 or 6 Pack Extra Carabiners for Paddle Leash
Cinch Lock Pro 1, 2 or 3 Pack
Overhead or Wall Storage

Good product, good deal (3 leashes for $12 plus a carabiner).

Good product, good deal (3 leashes for $12 plus a carabiner).
I like these leashes and would recommend them. They measure 38 inches, unattached, at rest and 59 inches pulled to the max, unattached, end to end. They have loops built into each end to attach to your kayak and to your fishing rod, paddle etc., one end has a slightly larger loop. The ones that I bought a year and a half ago were green and the ones that I just got are black. I connect these to the milk crate behind my seat in my kayak (see picture) and these are long enough for me to reach behind me, grab a rod, bring it up to me in the seat and undo the leach from the rod and fish with it. When I’m changing rods or done fishing for the day, I connect the leash again. When they are not in use, I roll them up and stuff them in the rod tube as in the picture. I don’t fish with a leash on my rods because sometimes I’m sitting, sometimes I’m standing and I swap between my right and left hand to cast so keeping the rod tethered doesn’t work very well. Even if all of that wasn’t the case, I still prefer to cast without it being tethered. I know that I’m taking a chance at losing a rod if I flip but I’ll take that chance. When I’m fishing moving water I stay seated and I do fish with my rod tethered but I fish in still water 80% of the time.

These leashes keep the paddles, rods, and gear tied to the yak- and they work! The cute, more expensive colorful ones did not. These are a good length, good strength, and surviving saltwater so far. Just rinse after use and wash with dawn every few weeks. Easy to use and worth every penny.

I've gotten numerous uses from a couple sets of these I bought for my Oru Kayaks and it saved me from losing expensive critical gear when unintentionally flipping the boat. They even work well for girth hitching things that don't have attachment loops like paddles. The light weight beaner works fine for attaching to the boat. My only complaint was that 3 leashes wasn't quite enough for me so I bought a couple more sets so everything I carry can be lashed to the boat in the event of a rollover. Although light, I've even used them to tow another kayaker so they are reasonably strong.

These are great rod and paddle leashes but I think it's pretty stupid that they give you 1 caribeaner for 3 leashes. I suppose you could hook them all on the one caribeaner but that could get messy pretty quick. It's better in my opinion to spread them out. I knew it came with only 1 because I read the description and don't really mind because I had a bunch laying around but it still would have been nice.

2nd purchase. There are no clips that can break at the ends. I use these to attach every thing onto my kayak. As we add more kayaks to our family, we buy more of these. Paid off the last time I went under/flipped over. Paddle was wedged under some brush and difficult to get out in the fast moving water, but still attached to the leash and actually kept my kayak from floating away while I regained my bearings.

One leash goes on my paddle, one on my fishing pole, and the other fits my terrier's life jacket just right so I can pull her in if she goes overboard. The leashes are the perfect length, and even work well as a dog leash for when we decide to take a break on the shore/banks. If these ever wear out, I'll definitely be purchasing them again!

I thought this would be three separate lanyards with Three separate clips it’s one clip on three lanyards. They are not bad. I just use separate clips for the other two. They could be a little bit longer, but they work for what I need them to do on my kayak.

After using these for the season, I'm purchasing another two packs of these right now to outfit all my family's kayaks. Tough cord and good bungie, holds up well and the length is perfect for paddles and rods. Attaching the end loops through pad-eyes and around paddles/rods means you don't need any carabiners to use them effectively. Still, the included carabiner works great and fits in all the low profile eyes on my kayak.
